Yogesh Master, author of the controversial novel Dhundi and a theatre personality, has now opted to use the visual medium to reach out to a larger audience. His debut feature film Marali Manege (Return home) will, most probably, hit the screens this September.
The shooting of Marali Manege, with veteran actor Shruthi in the lead, has already been completed and he is busy with post-production.
Mr. Yogesh shot the film in Dandinashivara village of Tiptur taluk. He said the film is about “real Ghar Wapsi” in every house, where ego is won over by love, affection, human relations.
Mr. Yogesh’s novel Dhundi was controversial and he was arrested on the charge of hurting religious sentiments. A case prohibiting the sale and distribution of Dhundi is stilling pending in the court.
Though his film does not touch on religion, it talks about the priestly class which claims to be mediators between god and devotees, in a subtle manner.
“The film focuses basically on the human relations and importance of love and affection,” says Mr. Yogesh, who has authored over 170 works and directed 235 plays.
He says he turned to films because a major section of society because it is a way of communicating with a wider audience through a powerful medium.
