Cash stolen from shop

Cash amounting to Rs. 19.5 lakh was allegedly stolen from an apparel shop in Chickpet on Sunday.

As it was half a day’s work on Sunday, the salesmen closed the shop in the afternoon and handed over the keys to the owner as usual.

The incident came to light when the security guard came to the shop in the evening and found the shutter ajar. He called up the owner, Jinesh Kumar, who rushed to the shop and found that the cash kept in the drawer was missing. Kumar told the police that he had left the day’s collection in the shop as it was a bank holiday. The police suspect the involvement of the two salesmen, who are absconding.
