April 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - Bengaluru:

A woman who was allegedly tortured by her husband and locked up inside her house was rescued by the police on Sunday.

Shobha (30) was admitted to a hospital with severe bite marks all over her body and several blue-black patches that suggest blood clots, according to the police.

She was allegedly confined and “tortured” by her husband at their residence in Moodalapalya.

Vijayanagar police said Shobha married Venugopal (45), a small-time real estate businessman, around three years ago. However, an alleged demand for dowry led to a severe marital discord.

On Saturday, an argument turned violent and Venugopal allegedly assaulted her, bit her repeatedly and locked her up in a room. Shobha managed to alert her neighbours, who informed her parents.
