A 28-year-old woman, who was returning home from work in an autorickshaw, was robbed by the driver in Mico Layout police limits on Tuesday night. The driver allegedly deviated from the route and took her to an isolated area.

The woman Madhumitha, a software engineer in a private firm in JP Nagar, is a resident of Kodichikkanahalli. She had got into the auto near Ragi Gudda. On the way, the driver stopped the vehicle near Vijaya Bank Colony where another man got into the auto and sat beside the driver. A little further, the driver took an unexpected turn a few metres before Bilekahalli traffic junction and stopped in an isolated area. Though Madhumitha called out for help, there was no one around.

The two men demanded her valuables and cash. When she resisted, the men allegedly assaulted her. They took her gold chain and rings, cell phone and Rs. 400 before pushing her out of the auto. After a while, with the help of some passersby, the woman went to the police station and lodged a complaint. The police are examining footage of the CCTV camera near Bilekahalli junction.
