Woman succumbs to burns

A 38-year-old homemaker, Manjula, who was hospitalized for third degree burn injuries after her family friend set her on fire over a financial row in Taverekere on Tuesday, succumbed to her injuries at Victoria Hospital on Wednesday. The accused, Madhu (50), who was also severely injured in the melee, succumbed to injuries, while 30-year-old construction labourer Nagraj, who rushed to save the victim but was pushed into the fire by Madhu, was charred to death on the spot.

The Tavarekere police have taken Vinod, an associate of Madhu, into custody.
