Woman set on fire by husband

December 12, 2013 12:19 am | Updated 12:19 am IST - Bangalore:

A 32-year-old woman was set on fire allegedly by her husband, who suspected her fidelity, in HAL police station limits.

On Sunday, a severely injured Jayamma, a labourer and mother of two, was rushed to Victoria Hospital, where she is being treated.

According to the police, the accused, Chandrashekar, a casual labourer, was living with Jayamma and two children in a rented house in Gandhinagar in HAL.

Reportedly an alcoholic, Chandrashekar allegedly used to frequently fight with Jayamma suspecting her fidelity.

On Sunday too the couple had a fight over the issue, following which Chandrashekar poured kerosene on Jayamma and allegedly set her on fire.

The neighbours rushed to her rescue and shifted her to Victoria Hospital.

Though she sustained severe burn injuries, she is out of danger, the police said. The HAL police have taken up a case and are looking out for Chandrashekhar.
