Bengaluru:Karnataka: 21-01-2015: File Photo of (from Right to Left) Murder accused Basavaraja murdered his Wife Chandrakala (24 Years) and Mother In Law Omkaramma (45 Years), at his Residence in Nelageddarahalli, under Peenya Police Station Limits, in Bengaluru on Wednesday 21st January 2015

In a shocking incident, a man allegedly bludgeoned his wife and mother-in-law to death with a grinding stone at their house in Nelagedaranahalli on Tuesday night. The incident came to light when his six year-old-son woke up on Wednesday morning and saw the duo lying in a pool of blood. The man, Basavaraj (32), is absconding.

Basavaraj is from Hosadurga, Chitradurga district. He got married to Chandrakala (28) seven years ago. The couple lived in Hosadurga. Basavaraj worked as a truck driver at a brick kiln. However, differences cropped up between the couple over his chronic alcoholism. Chandrakala moved to Bengaluru. Since the last six months, she had been living with her mother and sister Kavita’s family in Nelagedaranahalli.

Basavaraj came down to the city and convinced his wife to return home. They started living in a rented house a fortnight ago. However, Basavaraj reportedly went back to his old ways and turned up drunk every night. This reportedly led to a bitter argument on Tuesday night.

On Wednesday morning, the bodies of his wife and mother-in-law were found. Police have recovered a blood stained grinding stone which was used as a weapon, police said. Peenya police have registered a case of murder and are searching for Basavaraj.
