Woman killed in road accident

A 22-year-old engineering student was killed after a tempo hit the two-wheeler she was riding at Rajarajeshwari Nagar here on Saturday. The victim has been identified as Bhavana Gangadhar, a resident of BEML Layout. Her friend — Chandana— who was riding pillion was injured in the accident.

The accident occurred when Ms. Bhavana had slowed down to negotiate a speed breaker at around 9.30 a.m. “It (tempo) was being driven in a rash and negligent manner. On impact, Ms. Chandana was flung out of the two-wheeler onto the side of the road. Ms. Bhavana came under the wheels of the tempo,” the police said.

Passers-by shifted the two women to a hospital where the doctors declared Ms. Bhavana dead on arrival. Ms. Chandana is is said to be out of danger.
