In an alleged dowry harassment case, the husband of a 26-year-old woman, who was found hanging at her residence in Jawaregowdana Doddi in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, has been arrested. The deceased has been identified as Shalini.

Anand, an autorikhaw driver, was married to Shalini six years ago and the couple had two children. According to the police, Anand used to harass and fight with Shalini frequently. On Wednesday, Anand walked out of the house after a fight. Shalini later hanged herself in the bathroom of her house, the police said.

Anand returned home late in the night and went to sleep thinking his wife would be sleeping with the children. The incident came to light on Thursday morning when he went to the washroom.

Shalini's mother filed a complaint against Anand, accusing him of harassing his wife over dowry, which she said could have led her to take the extreme step.
