“Segregate your waste or pay up… Mind it!” This could well be the warning issued to citizens by superstar Rajnikanth. At least it will be, if all goes by Mayor B.S. Sathyanarayana’s grand plans.
The Mayor, who roped in students from his alma mater Acharya Pathasala (APS) College to clean K.R. Market, is now contemplating getting support from the institution’s alumni. The famous alumni include Mr. Rajnikanth, Kannada actors Kalyan Kumar and Srinath, and cricketers Sudhakar Rao and Raghunath Rao.
“There is no denying the power that Rajnikanth wields. That apart, he has on several occasions professed love for Bangalore, where he grew up. People here hold him in high esteem. They will listen to him. We will urge him to give a message to the citizens to segregate the waste they generate and help the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) dispose it of scientifically,” he said. Mr. Sathyanarayana said that he would meet Mr. Rajnikanth’s brother Sathyanarayan, who was formerly an employee of the civic authority, to discuss the issue. He said that a delegation from the BBMP would consider going to Chennai to meet the superstar.
