Warning against I PU admissions based on Class 9 marks

December 07, 2014 01:10 am | Updated April 07, 2016 03:05 am IST - BENGALURU:

Pre-University (PU) colleges, who are in a race to fill seats even before the Class 10 exams are over, have been warned of strict action by the Department of Pre University Education (DPUE). The department has forbidden colleges from making admissions to first PU for the academic year 2015-16 based on students’ scores in class nine.

Terming such admissions “illegal,” the DPUE has reiterated that application forms for first PU courses have to be distributed only after the results of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exams are announced.

Several colleges are reportedly already offering admissions to various first PU courses without waiting for the Class 10 exams to be held, let alone consider the results, which is usually the norm.

Erring colleges risk disciplinary action against the principals and de-recognition, a department notification said.
