At the Seshadripuram Ramaseva Samithi, Vidyabhushana will be honoured on April 8, 6 p.m., for his 25 years of performances, without a break at the samithi. “When I started singing for the samithi, I used to see only sand around the college premises where people sat and listened even for four hours at a stretch. The ambience and open-air cool breeze has always been inviting,” says Vidyabhushana, who holds a Doctorate in ‘Haridaasa Haadugalalli Sangeetha,’ from the Hampi University.
The maestro has 5 CDs of Ugabhogas to his credit. “Ugabhogas are something we have to propagate for the moral lessons in them from our dasa koota . The lyrics help us use the raga better,” he says talking of the Nagaswarali Haridaasa kriti on Lord Hanuman that would be part of his concert on Wednesday.
