Enthusiasts from the city looking to own exotic varieties of rare fish and birds can do so this month.
An exhibition and sale of rare fish and birds has been put up as part of the Family Fair organised by the National Consumer Fair at RBANM School Grounds near Commercial Street.
The exhibition that was inaugurated on Thursday will be on till May 31. The exhibition has many fresh water exotic fish varieties, including Midas Cichlid of Nicaragua, Rosy Barb of Afghanistan, Gold Saum of Peru, Silver Shark of Thailand, Piranha of South America, Ryukin goldfish of Japan and Dwarf Gourami of Pakistan.
Karthik, the organiser of the exhibition, said most of these fish were presently reared at homes and hatcheries in India. “However, it is difficult to procure them and so the exhibition put them together at one place,” he added.
The exhibition also has a rare Java Sparrow known as Java Finch on display.
Other birds on display include the Frillback Pigeon of Australia, Lahore Pigeon, Fantail Pigeon of China, Homer Pigeon of Germany and Pouter Pigeons of Europe.
