Alumni of the University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) came out in large numbers to protest against the shifting of the college from K.R. Circle to the Jnanabharathi campus.

Former students recollected the nostalgia associated with their alma mater and said that they would approach the state government to intervene. The state government had decided relocate UVCE to the Jnanabharathi campus after the trifurcation of Bangalore University from the 2017-18 academic year. Both Bengaluru Central University and Bangalore University want UVCE to be a part of their university.

Several eminent alumni, including UVCE alumnus and Padma Vibhushan awardee Roddam Narasimha and former Bangalore University vice chancellor N. Prabhudev, participated. The protest and a meeting was convened by the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO), who plan to approach the government to reconsider their decision.
