An under trial prisoner Nagaraj, who was being brought from Thrissur in Kerala to Udupi, managed to escape from the police custody at the Udupi railway station on Wednesday, police said.

Nagaraj is wanted in several cases in Karnataka, Kerala and and Tamil Nadu. He was allegedly involved in the murder of Vinod Shettigar, another offender, at the District Sub-Jail at Anjar village about 15 km from Udupi, in 2011. “We are searching for him. Nagaraj hails from Shimoga district”, Mr. Boralingaiah said.
