Umasri, Prakash Raj and Pankaj Advani hailed

National award winning actors Umasri and Prakash Raj, and Pankaj Advani, who won the world professional billiards championship, came in for praise in the Legislative Council on Wednesday.

The House moved a resolution congratulating them on their achievements. Members, cutting across party lines, said the three had done the State proud.

Leader of the Opposition V.S. Ugrappa suggested that the Government earmark a grant of at least Rs. 50 crore to scout rural talent and help them to take up acting as a career. Similarly, a rural sports federation should be set up to take important sports to rural areas to help talented people there to come up, he said.
