V.S. Ugrappa, Congress MLC, who on Thursday defended Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s list of nominations to the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), had to face a barrage of questions from presspersons who pointed out that the Lokayukta was “scrutinising” the complaint against V.R. Sudarshan, whose names was recommended for the KPSC chairman’s post.
Caught on the wrong foot, Mr. Urgappa abruptly ended the press conference that he had called to demand reduction in the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG following a fall in international crude oil prices.
Although crude oil prices in the international market had fallen drastically from 117 dollars per barrel (during the Congress-led UPA government) to 48.65 dollars now, the fuel prices have remained the same, he said. “The Centre should proportionately reduce the prices in the interest of the common man,” he added.
