Uber driver waitlisted after online complaint

March 24, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:50 am IST - Bengaluru:

A driver working for cab aggregator Uber was waitlisted on Wednesday after the brother of a customer posted a complaint against him on social media.

The complaint, which was shared with the Bengaluru City Police on Twitter, alleges that the driver, after picking up the lady, stopped the car several times near the Silk Board signal and touched himself inappropriately.

“He continued till the destination. At the destination, the customer confronted the driver. Initially, he denied any wrongdoing, but apologised after being told that we would be filing a police complaint,” the complainant has said.

The complaint was shared by the official Twitter account of Bengaluru City Police @BlrCityPolice and the complainant informed that it had been forwarded to the Madivala police station for action. However, no complaint had been lodged till Wednesday evening, sources said.

Meanwhile, Uber said that the driver has been waitlisted. "We've spoken to both the rider and driver-partner. The driver partner was waitlisted immediately after receiving the complaint from the rider. We have provided all the information that has been asked for, with the authorities, to help them with their investigation," an Uber spokesperson said.
