Alleged marital discord drove a recently married software engineer to end his life by hanging in Banaswadi, while in another instance, an engineering student hanged himself reportedly after failing to clear her semester exams in KR Puram on Sunday, police said.

The software engineer, Deepak (28) had recently returned from an overseas assignment in Denmark and was stated to be married two months ago. Neighbours noticed his body handing to the ceiling in balcony and called in the police. A note purportedly found at the place indicated that that marital discords could have driven the man to suicide.

Police said Deepak locked his wife in a room after a quarrel with her and later appeared to have hanged himself.

In the second incident, Babitha (22), an engineering course student of MSRIT allegedly hanged herself in K R Puram. There was no suicide note found, but initial inquiries revealed that she had failed in exams and this could have been the reason, police said.
