Two killed in separate road accidents

Two pedestrians were killed in two separate accidents which occurred in different parts of the city on Monday night.

Manjunath (32), a security guard of a private garment factory in Singasandra was crossing the Hosur Main Road at about 8.40 p.m. at night when while he was hit by a mini-truck. Manjunath was returning home from work when the accident happened. He sustained fatal head injuries and died on the spot, said the police.

Police confirmed that the vehicle has been identified by passers-by even thought the spot was poorly lit and lacked surveillance cameras. A case of ‘death caused due to negligence’ has been registered at Electronic City traffic police station and the cops are investigating into the matter.

In another incident, a 65-year-old pedestrian, identified as Krishniah Shetty, was mowed down by an unidentified vehicle on Monday at about 7:00 p.m. while crossing a service road opposite to Parle-G factory in Channa Nayakana Palya, Chikkabidara Kallu in north Bengaluru.

Passers-by rushed the victim to the hospital but was declared as brought dead by doctors as he had sustained grievous injuries.

The deceased was a farmer from Kollegal and had come to his son’s house in Channanayakkanpalaya, said the police.

“We are trying to retrieve some details of the vehicle using the surveillance cameras at the NH-4 toll plaza,” said a traffic inspector. A case of ‘death due to negligence’ has been registered in Peenya traffic police station and the investigations are underway.
