Two persons were killed and five others injured when a speeding car jumped the median after losing control and collided with a van and a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction on the busy Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway. The incident threw traffic out of gear near Kallagopahalli Gate, near Bidadi, on Sunday evening.
The deceased have been identified as Raju (30), from Mysuru, who was riding the bike, and Yashas (28), a resident of BTM Layout, who was in the rear seat of the car. Both of them were employees of private firms.
Shivaraju, who was riding pillion, was critically injured.
According to the police, at around 6.45 p.m., the car, which was heading to Mysuru, was being driven in a reckless manner. The driver jumped the median and rammed into a van and a motorcycle. As a result, the van crashed into a bike, killing Raju on the spot and injuring five others, who were rushed to a nearby hospital. They are said to be undergoing treatment.
Traffic on Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway returned to normal after three hours. Traffic was also affected around Ramanagaram, Bidadi and Kengeri.
A case has been registered at Bidadi police station.
