Two teenage girls died after consuming pesticide on Saturday night at Pulikeshinagar.

The deceased are identified as Shazia Begum (18), a resident of Kushalnagar, K.G. Halli, and Rakhia Begum (18), a resident of D.J. Halli. The two were studying in first-year Bachelors in Business Management (BBM) at a private college in Nagavara.

Police sources said that the two girls were found lying unconscious on Masjid Road, Pulikeshinagar, by passers-by on Saturday evening and were rushed to a nearby private hospital. Shazia Begum was declared brought dead, while Rakhia Begum succumbed to poisoning later in the night.

The Pulikeshinagar police, who have registered a case of unnatural death, said they found a bottle of pesticide from the place where the two girls were found. The doctors confirmed a case of poisoning, leading to the possibility that the girls had committed suicide.
