Two die after KSRTC bus hits bike

Two men were killed on the spot after a KSRTC bus hit their bike on a busy flyover at Nandagudi on NH7 on the outskirts of the city on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Gopalakrishna, an employee of a mobile service provider, and his friend Gopi, a photographer.

Both the victims belonged to Mulabagilu in Kolar district. They had been residing in Malleshpalya on HAL Road.

‘Not wearing helmets’

According to the police, the accident took place around 12.40 a.m. when the duo was returning from Kolar. The bus that had been coming from Kolar hit their two-wheeler as they were passing Tavarekere flyover. The bike was cut into pieces. The riders were not wearing helmets when the accident occurred, a police officer said.

The driver fled the scene. Villagers gathered at the spot and informed the Nandagudi police who shifted the bodies to a hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Traffic was thrown out off gear in the area for a while.

The police are in search of the bus driver.
