Two armed men on a bike stabbed a 20-year-old woman while she was returning home from college in Annapoorneshwari Nagar on Wednesday.
The victim (name withheld), who is perusing her engineering course from a private college was on her way to home in a scooter, when two men on bike intercepted her and before she could react, the pillion rider stabbed her on the hand thrice and sped away.
The victim fell from the scooter and raised an alarm for help. But, by the time anyone could reach her, the attacker had sped away, the police said.
The victim was rushed to a private hospital, where she is being treated.
The victim told the police that the attackers had followed her on Saturday and misbehaved with her. Though the victim informed her parents about the incident, they did not file a complaint with the police, a senior police officer said.
Further investigations revealed that the victims had been receiving calls from a telephone booth and the attacker had been harassing and following her for quite some time, the police said.
“We have formed a special team to track down the attackers. We are analysing the CCTv footage from the area to identify them,” DCP West M.N. Anucheth said.
