Trouble erupted at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office on Queen's Road here again on Saturday when a group of partymen sought disciplinary action against MLAs Priya Krishna and M. Krishnappa. Supporters of Congress worker Balaraje Gowda from Nayandahalli, who was allegedly assaulted by the father-son duo's followers on Thursday, gathered at the KPCC office to submit a memorandum to KPCC President R.V. Deshpande.
But, a fracas broke out between the protesters and other Congressmen, causing confusion, and groups of Congressmen pushed each other around. “A group of party workers had come to submit a memorandum to the party president seeking action against party MLAs Krishna and Krishnappa. But other Congressmen tried to persuade them against precipitating matters,” said party spokesperson M. Ramachandrappa.
Saturday's trouble was a sequel to Thursday's street fight between two warring groups of Congress workers when Mr. Balaraje Gowda was allegedly attacked by the supporters of the two MLAs on Queen's Road.
Mr. Gowda, who had already lodged a complaint with the Shivajinagar Police, said he had come to the party office on Thursday to complain against the two MLAs, for not working for the success of his wife, Shashi, who was the Congress candidate in the BBMP polls. An angry Mr. Krishna, Mr. Gowda's complaint said, sent his supporters to attack him and the mob trashed his vehicle also. The police registered two cases against the two MLAs who will be questioned.
