A transgender ended her life by consuming poison on Wednesday.

Upparpet police said Sumitra (35), a native of Mysore, was staying in a rented house along with her friends in Banashankari. She was collecting money at a traffic signal near the city railway police station around 8.30 p.m. when she told her friend she had taken poison. Sumitra was immediately taken to the Victoria Hospital but it was too late. Friends told the police that she had displayed suicidal tendencies in the past.

In another incident, an unidentified woman aged around 45 was found dead near Majestic Wednesday night. The body has been shifted to Victoria Hospital.
