The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths claimed to have solved several cases of theft by nabbing a 29-year-old habitual offender whom they tracked through a mobile phone stolen from a film producer’s house.
With the arrest of George Santosh, the CCB officials have not only recovered the valuables stolen from the producer’s house, but also solved 10 other burglary cases. After arresting 10 habitual offenders, they have recovered around Rs. 45 lakh worth valuables, including one kg of gold ornaments and 11 kg of silver ornaments from them.
The house of Tamil film producer Purushotham alias Prashanth in K.R. Puram was burgled on October 9 and valuables worth Rs. 15 lakh stolen when he had gone to Tamil Nadu to release his movie “Paagan.” The incident came to light when Purushotham returned home.
The police said that Jnanaprakash (35) from Kolar had allegedly handed over the three mobile phones stolen from the house to Santosh. Subsequently, Jnanaprakash was arrested by Chittoor police in some other case and Santosh was nabbed by CCB sleuths, who tracked him through stolen mobile phones.
Based on the information provided by Santosh, the CCB sleuths brought Jnanaprakash from Chittoor jail and recovered other stolen valuables, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) B. Dayananad said.
Meanwhile, on further interrogation of Santosh, the CCB sleuths arrested eight others allegedly involved in various theft cases and recovered stolen properties from, them.
The arrested are: Rudresh (37) of Ramanagaram, Harry Philips (46) of Chennai, Muniyappa (45) and Muniraj (38) of Kolar, Imran Khan (22) of Valmikinagar on Mysore Road, Rizwan Baig (24) of Lalbagh Road, Syed Fayaz (30) of Shyampura Main Road and Shakeel Ahmed (31) of Bommanahalli.
