After staging a unique Kannada musical and not collecting GST on the ticket that was sold for the event, the Gram Seva Sangh, which is seeking 0% tax on handmade products, has organised a carnatic music concert here on Sunday by well-known singer T.M. Krishna to espouse the cause.

At the public concert, where entry is free, Mr. Krishna will sing in protest against the imposition of GST on handmade products, a note said.

The concert will be held at Ragi Kana in Gottigere at 5 p.m., and school children have done shramadana to spruce up the venue.

According to Mr. Krishna’s website, there will also be a talk on ‘Music as the handmade’.

Ragi Kana is a Sunday market organised by the sangha where people assemble every weekend to sell their handmade products.

The sangha, which through a committee headed by sociologist Ashish Nandy, has drafted a definition for handmade products. It has drawn up a list of over 200 handmade products that should be made 0% tax.

Meanwhile, the sangha, which had invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to watch Kannada musical Thayavva staged on Tuesday, has again extended an invitation to him.

In the invite, “A music to the ears of the Prime Minister,” a invite to the Prime Minister, the sangha has said: “He (Mr. Krishna) sings for handmade products and hardworking people. This is one in a series of cultural events organised by Gram Seva Sangh in support of the tax denial satyagraha... thousands of citizens are expected to join. We want you to come, sir. By listening to people’s music, we are sure it will help you to take a positive decision on making all handmade products zero taxed.”
