Three-year-old run over by school van dies

Seeing off her older sister to school proved costly for a three-year-old girl. She was run over by the school van, in Singahalli near Mandur on Monday around 7.30 a.m.

Srinidhi accompanied her mother to see off her sister – a Class 1 student of Narayana Guru School – till the spot where a van came to pick her.

Srinidhi was standing near the front wheel of the van while her sister got in. The driver did not notice her and moved the van. The child came under the vehicle. She was rushed to a local private hospital where she was directed to M.S. Ramaiah Hospital in the city. She succumbed around 9.45 a.m. to injuries in the lower abdomen.

Van driver Kempegowda was arrested by the Avalahalli police.
