The Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials chased and caught a gang of three armed rowdies, who were on the run after attacking police sub-inspector Nayaz Ahmed in D.J. Halli on August 25.

The accused Waseem, Mazhar and Imran, who were in a van, were intercepted by the CCB team at Chikkajala late on Tuesday night. The accused, sensing danger, tried to flee from the spot. However, when the police managed to catch Waseem, the other accused Mazhar and Imran attacked inspector Anil and sub-inspector Murthy and constable Lakshman with lethal weapons. In retaliation, the police fired in the air and later shot at their legs to neutralise them.

The injured Imran and Mazhar, along with Mr. Anil, Mr. Murthy and Mr. Lakshman were admitted to Yelahanka General Hospital.
