Officials of Narcotics Control Bureau on Wednesday arrested three persons including a woman and recovered 60 kilograms marijuana from them.

The trio, identified as Narayanaswamy (55), Srinivasa (28) and Ramanamma 35, were nabbed as soon as they landed in the city in a train with the contraband in their backpacks.

According to the officials, the trio had concealed the marijuana in polythene sheet stitched inside the backpack. Based on a tip-off, the officials zeroed in on the trio and confiscated the baggage before frisking them.

The officials later tore open the polythene sheet and drugs worth ₹30 lakh.

The accused confessed to have purchased the drugs from their contact in Vijayawada. They told police that they had come to the city to sell it at a higher price.

The officials are further investigating to ascertain the source of the drugs and the accused’s network in the city.
