Three men were arrested in connection with the murder of a 32-year-old real estate agent in Peenya last Wednesday.
The arrested are Balu (27), who is also the victim Gangaraju’s brother-in-law, Shankar (36) and Prabhu (38). They are all from Bangalore.
On Wednesday night, the accused approached Gangaraju in an autorickshaw, hit his head with an iron rod while he was standing by the roadside near Coconut Garden in Dasarahalli, Peenya.
Gangaraju, who sustained grievous injuries, was rushed to a hospital but was declared brought dead. The Peenya police had registered a case.
According to a release issued by the police, Balu had married the victim’s sister Bhagya about a year ago. But Gangaraju was unhappy with the alliance as Balu had been allegedly harassing his sister and they had argued over the issue. Angered by this, Balu plotted to kill Gangaraju with the help of the others, the police said.
Two persons, who were attempting to sell opium, were arrested by the K.P. Agrahara police on Friday night. As much as 10 kg of opium was seized.
On a tip-off, the police raided the premises near Gopalana Residency in Telecom Layout and nabbed Kumar Meghaval (28) and Rakesh (23), both natives of Rajasthan.
The K.P. Agrahara police are on the lookout for two others, Gyanaram and Tejaram Chowdary.
After a long chase by the Peenya police, two persons were arrested for the alleged abduction and assault of a cable operator of a mobile company near Jalahalli Cross on Friday.
The accused, Girish V. (29) and Avinash (22), along with two others, had approached the victim, Narasimhamurthy, around 6 a.m. while he was at a roadside stall.
They dragged him into a car and took him to Hesaraghatta Main Road where they allegedly assaulted him. The accused also threatened the victim with a knife and made away with cables worth Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 6,500 in cash. They then shoved the victim out of the car before fleeing the spot.
Narasimhamurthy immediately contacted the Peenya police station and two patrolling cops set off in search of the assailants and were able to chase the car, nab two of the accused and also recover the stolen items and a knife.
However, two other accomplices managed to escape.
