Nobel Prize winning novelist Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s fame goes far beyond the Spanish speaking world. The rush for the screening for a documentary on him, Gabo: The Creation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez , at BIFFes was testimony to this.
The film, directed by Barcelona-based Justin Webster, has journalist Juan Gabriel Vasquez and biographer Gerald Martin tracing the writer’s journey from the Columbian village of Aracataca to becoming an internationally renowned author.
Many among those attended the screening had read English and Kannada translations of Marquez’s works.
