A software engineer was killed on the spot when his motorcycle rammed a parked lorry near the Silk Board junction early Thursday.

B.T.M. Layout resident Sayan Bhattacharya (30) was on his way home after his night shift and the lorry was parked on the side after it broke down.

Sayan was taken to hospital with severe head injuries but it was too late.

Police said the lorry driver had not taken any precautionary measures such as switching on the parking lights or fixing reflectors on the vehicle.

The lorry, bearing an Andhra Pradesh registration number, has been seized and the police is looking for the driver.

Sayan, a native of Kolkata, is survived by his wife.
