The suspect in the case of rape of a six-year-old girl in a school in Jeevanbimanagar was remanded in four-day police custody by the 10 Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Friday.
The victim’s parents recorded their statement before the magistrate under section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). In her statement, the mother recounted that the girl complained of pain in her private parts and couldn’t walk properly, following which she took her to a private hospital where it was confirmed that the minor was sexually assaulted. The minor victim identified Jaishankar by name as the perpetrator.
“The girl narrated the incident in detail – the sequence of events, the perpetrator and the scene of crime,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Division) N. Sateesh Kumar.
Meanwhile, medical examination confirmed that the child was sexually abused. Doctors had reported bruises and swelling in the girl’s private parts, City Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi told presspersons after visiting the school. Mr. Reddi claimed that the suspect Jaishankar had confessed to the crime. He said that background verification of staff members at the school was under way when the incident took place.
Police are now probing into Jaishankar’s past to verify if there were any more victims. Sources say police have seized his mobile phone and are checking his call records and data on the phone to ascertain whether he had sexually assaulted any other child earlier. Mr. Reddi added that they are also probing the culpability of others, including the school management and the gynaecologist of the private clinic who had refused to give in writing that the girl was sexually abused.
To file case
City police said that they would file a case against the management of the school in Jeevanbimanagar for non-compliance of school safety guidelines under section 188 of IPC, said the Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi, who visited the school on Friday.
