Tanker runs over 3-year-old in Bangalore, angry residents go on rampage

Tension prevailed for sometime when irate residents tried to torch a gas tanker which knocked down a three year old girl, killing her on the spot at busy Hoody junction, leading to Whitefield on the outskirts of Bangalore on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as Dhanushri, who was riding pillion with her relative. A gas tanker, reportedly driven in a rash and negligent manner, knocked down the motorcycle. Dhanushri slipped from the vehicle and came under the wheels of the tanker.

She sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot. The motorcycle rider escaped with minor injuries.

Angry residents soon blocked the road and went on rampage, damaging the truck. They tried to set fire to the vehicle. However, KR Puram Trafffic police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The police have taken up a case of rash and negligent driving against the truck driver and are investigating.

Traffic was disrupted on the busy Hoody junction for sometime in view of the mishap.
