Finding the right preschool will no longer be a daunting task, for, help will soon be at hand in the form of a review mechanism for preschools. The reviews will help parents make an informed choice when choosing the preschool for their children.

Launch today

From Tuesday, Talkative Parents, a school-parental social network started by Mahesh Vorkady, an entrepreneur from the city, will have three-minute videos on YouTube. They will list out a preschool’s facilities such as infrastructure, teaching methodology, safety, and security. The videos will also feature faculty members explaining some of the features that the preschool provides.

“When you buy something, you look up various reviews before narrowing down on your choice. Choosing a preschool is one of the most important decisions, so we thought it would be best to get a video review,” Mr. Vorkady said.

The initiative will help parents who are looking to get their children admitted in the 2018-19 academic year. “Every locality now has abut 20 to 30 preschools. Every parent, however, has certain specifications and requirements that they think will suit their child. Some would want more physical activity while others want focus on learning,” he said.

To cover schools too

The group also plans to cover schools, tutors, coaching centres for fine arts, music, and sports. Neither parents nor schools have to pay for the service.

Levin Dsouza, whose son just completed preschool in Sanjayanagar, said: “Parents often want to see the school infrastructure and the teaching methodology. Such reviews help parents make an informed decision.” Smitha John, parent of a four-year-old who saw sample videos, said: “I did not have much time so the videos helped as it focuses on the visual aspect. This is more helpful than a written review.”
