October 26, 2017 01:45 pm | Updated 01:45 pm IST - Kolar

Students of Nachiketa Nilaya Hostel run by the Social Welfare Department staged a snap protest condemning the poor quality of food, prepared using rotten vegetables.

The students blamed officers, cooks and contractors for this. They also alleged that food prepared in the afternoon was being served at the night, causing problem to the inmates.

They urged the department’s joint director Jayanna and taluk assistant director Balaji, who visited the hostel following protest, to initiate action against erring staff and contractors.

Both the officers took warden and cooks to task and warned them about initiating stringent action if the situation continued.
