A 19-year-old student of M.S. Ramaiah College died under mysterious circumstances at the M.S. Ramaiah Hospital early on Sunday morning.

The deceased, Syed Salman, a BBM student and resident of J.C. Nagar, was admitted to the hospital with a bump on the back of his head on Saturday night by another boy.

The Sadashivanagar police said that Syed did not have any other injuries on his body. He had gone out on Saturday with his friend but did not return till 9 p.m. The family was later informed by a boy named Nikhil that Syed had been admitted to a hospital. However, Syed’s family did not know any friend of Syed by the name Nikhil and the boy was nowhere to be seen after Syed was admitted to the hospital, the police said.

Police officials said that Syed may have been hit on the head or had some internal injury. The police are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the cause of death. The Sadashivanagar police also have obtained the CCTV footage from the hospital to identify the youth who had brought him to hospital. A case of unnatural death has been registered.
