Ballari Road had a relatively smooth flow of traffic on Monday morning, after the traffic cops closed down the “Magic Box” underpass at Cauvery Junction.

Though the traffic cops closed down the underpass from Saturday morning, the real test was on Monday morning. Though there was slow moving traffic on the busy highway, it was not due to the closing down of the underpass. Traffic cops claimed that the closure of the narrow underpass eased traffic movement.

R. Hitendra, Additional Commissioner (Traffic), said that the “Magic Box” underpass was hindering the smooth flow of traffic from the city towards the Kempegowda International Airport. The traffic police, therefore, decided to close it.

“We have received favourable response from motorists using Ballari Road today. We have decided not to open the underpass for traffic,” he said.
