Tumakuru’s Siddaganga mutt seer Shivakumara Swami has been admitted to BGS Global Hospitals in the city on Friday with complaints of mild fever and pain in the abdomen.

Doctors attending on him said his condition is stable.

“We are conducting blood tests and a chest X-ray to investigate his fever. He is doing fine. In fact, he walked into the hospital on his own; he wasn’t wheeled in,” said N.K. Venkataramana, chief neurosurgeon.

Earlier in the day, a team of doctors led by Dr. Venkataramana went to Tumakuru after being informed that the seer was unwell.

“When we suggested a comprehensive health check-up, he was very reluctant to come to the hospital. It was only after a lot of persuasion that he agreed to it, and we brought him here,” the doctor said.

Doctors said he will undergo a cardiac and renal evaluation on Saturday and is likely to be discharged by evening.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and BJP State president B.S. Yeddyurappa visited the seer in hospital.
