Show cause notice to varsity over B.Ed. college admissions

January 11, 2013 09:41 am | Updated November 16, 2021 10:03 pm IST - BANGALORE:

The B.Ed. Task Force of Bangalore University (BU) has received a shot in the arm with the State government issuing a show cause notice to the university over the Syndicate’s controversial decision in its last meeting.

The highest decision-making body of the university had decided to grant three months’ time to all affiliated B.Ed. colleges instead of implementing the task force’s report in toto .

The university has seven days to respond to the show-cause notice.

In the 205-page report, the task force has recommended renewal of affiliation only to 26 colleges out of 99, of them 18 colleges should not be allowed to take new admissions for 2012-13.

The report listed 23 colleges for ‘gross irregularities’, 20 as ‘other non-functional colleges’, and recommended disaffiliation of 16 colleges, which the task force did not visit as they were not recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education.
