September 22, 2016 12:00 am | Updated November 01, 2016 08:07 pm IST - Bengaluru:

After arresting over 800 perpetrators allegedly responsible for the violence on September 12, the police are now conducting internal probes to identify officers who were responsible for the deterioration of law and order on that day.

A senior police source said that Byatarayanapura Inspector Hemanth Kumar has been transferred without a posting. “Action will be taken once the inquiry is completed,” said the senior officer. According to the police report, Mr. Kumar not only failed to contain the violence, but also did not update his superiors of the situation.

The police have also prepared a detailed report on the serious lapses by jurisdictional Assistant Commissioner of Police, Satyanarayana Kudur, which has been submitted to the DG and IGP.

“There are many police officials whose negligence has marred the reputation of the city,” said a senior officer, who is supervising the internal probe. The officer added that many officers are likely to get a rap for their “lethargic attitude”.
