A senior executive with a multi-national company here was found murdered with his throat slit on Sunday afternoon in his eighth-floor flat in Sun City Apartment, Iblur.
Sources in the Police Department said that he was found lying in a pool of blood in the drawing room by neighbours.
The victim, Sourabh Rastogi (35), who hailed from Lucknow, had moved to the city three years ago after working in Pune, Jaipur and Gurgaon. He was married to Ankita Rastogi, also from Lucknow. The couple had no children. Ms. Rastogi is a working professional.
The incident came to light after Ms. Rastogi, now in Pune, telephoned a neighbour here on Sunday as Sourabh Rastogi had not answered her calls.
Ms. Rastogi had also telephoned another neighbour on Saturday night. The neighbours broke open the door on Sunday only to find Sourabh Rastogi lying dead in a pool of blood with his shirt covering his face.
The sources said that the house was found ransacked and there were signs of a struggle.
HSR Layout police, who have registered a case, are yet to determine if any valuables have gone missing.
Kamal Pant, Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), said the motive is yet to be established.
The official also ruled out a forced entry. For, the main door of the flat had an automatic lock which could be opened either from within or using a key from outside. The indication of a “friendly entry” points to the possibility of a person known to Sourabh Rastogi having paid him a visit. The sources said that Sourabh Rastogi had a visitor on Saturday night, as indicated by his wife during her conversation with their neighbours.
The police have seized the visitors register at the main gate of the apartment complex and are analysing CCTV footage from the lobby of the flat and at the main gate.
The police have recovered Sourabh Rastogi’s mobile phone and are analysing his call records.
Mr. Pant said that the police had some vital leads in the case.
