Senior citizens empowerment scheme to be launched in Kolar

High Court Judge and Karnataka State Legal Services Authority chairman Jayanth Patel will inaugurate the Senior Citizens Empowerment Scheme here on August 20. The launch will be held at zilla panchyat premises.

Kolar has been selected as pilot district in Karnataka for implementation of the scheme, conceived by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), the senior civil judge Gururaj Shirol said at a preparatory meeting on Thursday.

Scheme has been formulated so that various government benefits reach senior citizens. It also aims at finding amicable solution to the issues related to senior citiznes, Mr. Shirol explained.

Legal assistance will also be provided to the elderly people under this scheme. Additional Deputy Commissioner K. Vidyakumari, Additional Superintendent K. Rajiv, assistant commissioner Shubha were present among others.
