Schools open, attendance partially hit

September 15, 2012 09:27 am | Updated November 16, 2021 11:13 pm IST - BANGALORE:

Almost all schools and colleges in the city remained open on Friday despite the strike by road transport corporations.

For a second day, students dependent on public transport had to make alternative arrangements, particularly those part of the Safe Route to School and dependent on the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC).

Vidya Niketan School had declared a holiday for its primary class students. Though the Army Public School and Prasidhi School reported attendance as usual, it was not so in institutions such as the University Law College and Christ University.

Carolyn Theresa, a Christ University student, said: “Many did not turn up today (Friday). Some of my friends said they had trouble coming to college as auto drivers were charging three times the normal fare.”
