Government Tamil Higher Primary School on Thimmaiah Road has 17 students, three teachers and one helper. The school, built during the British era, has records dating back to 1922.

Teachers say that the school had 1,200 students a decade ago, but the strength dwindled over a period of time.

One of the records of the school preserved is a letter of appreciation written in 1933 by Inspector of Schools, Coorg and Bangalore, to all municipal schools appreciating the “educational exhibition” that they had organised. The school was then called Thimmaiah Road Hindu Girls’ School

At present, the school has 11 classrooms of which only four are in usable condition.
