A sand-laden truck sank into a newly asphalted road, creating traffic disruption for over an hour, in the busy Manjunath Nagar on Monday morning.

The front portion of the truck which sunk into the road created a huge crater. As a result the truck tilted and a huge pile of sand fell on the road, creating panic among the passers-by. The traffic police rushed to the spot and diverted traffic while cordoning off the area to avoid further damage. The truck driver and his assistant escaped unhurt.

The police summoned a crane to pull out the truck to the side while the driver along with others removed the sand.

According to the police, the road was asphalted a few days ago.
