With the spotlight firmly on safety (or the lack of it) in schools and cabs, it was no surprise that these two sectors were the major clientele for the companies that participated in the two-day ‘Safety Tools Exhibition’ that concluded on Saturday.
The expo, organised by the City Police, showcased a number of innovative security systems in 28 stalls. They ranged from vehicle trackers and multi-sensor communication devices to apps and other safety gadgets.
One such system was ‘My SafeBus’, an app which offers live feed from CCTV cameras in school buses.
Another app that drew attention was ‘Smart ID Badge’, by Weycool Wavz Inc. It has the facility to preset three phone numbers and an SOS button, which will send an alert to the three preset numbers, providing the child’s location on Google Maps.
The stall of Weycool, which is currently marketing this product among schools, attracted over 150 people during the expo. The visitors included children, parents, professionals and representatives of schools.
Increasing businessParticipating companies claimed to have seen a rise in business this year. Madhusudhan B, zonal manager of Magnasoft, said that there was a 160 per cent increase in the number of visitors. The company caters to 150 schools across the country.
