R.S. Deshpande is first director of BASE

R.S. Deshpande, Economist and former Director of Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC) on Wednesday was appointed as the first director of newly established Bengaluru Dr. B.R. Ambedkar School of Economics (BASE).

The BASE management board headed by Higher Education Minister Basavaraja Rayareddy appointed Prof. Deshpande as the director of the institute, sources told The Hindu .

The first-year degree classes would begin from August 28. A total of 50 students have obtained admission in the first batch of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Economics.

BASE has appointed a librarian and new faculty would be appointed soon. A smart classroom, which can accommodate 50 student, is also ready.
